Questions
Plain answers.
If your question is about a license or a date, read it on the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife site. We will not guess the regulation book for you.
What should I bring?
Your license and permits. Blaze orange vest and hat for any deer hunt with a gun. Layers, because a ridge cools off. Quiet boots you have already walked in. The bow or gun you shoot, and the ammunition or arrows you trust. Any medicine you need, and a rain jacket. We have the stands, the beds, the coffee, and a boot dryer.
Do you guarantee a deer or a turkey?
No. On a rifle hunt, most parties see deer and a fair share fill a tag. Archery is slower. A spring gobbler answers when he answers. If you need a promise of a buck, this is the wrong lodge. We would rather tell you the truth the night before than dress it up.
What if I have to cancel?
This is a demo policy. A $350 deposit holds the dates. Cancel 30 days out and we return the deposit. Inside 30 days the deposit stays here. If the roads are unsafe, that is a conversation, not a lost weekend. We will move you if we can.
How many hunters come at once?
Four is the limit, and we would rather have two. The ridge stays quieter that way. A youth weekend is one young hunter and a parent. Ask first if you want to add a second youth.
Where do you hunt?
Private hardwoods in Clinton County, near Albany. Oak, hickory, maple, and tulip poplar, with a food plot or two on the edge of the ridge. This is not a public wildlife area. The lodge sits between Dale Hollow Lake and Lake Cumberland. We also put up hunters who already have permission in Wayne County.
Who cooks?
We do. Breakfast is biscuits, gravy, eggs, and coffee, on the table before you walk out. Supper is on when you come in. If you need a special plate for a real reason, say so when you book. This is a farmhouse kitchen, not a restaurant menu.
